Welcome to Goole Academy

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as your Principal at Goole Academy.  My name is Mr Harrison and I have a total of 12 years of working in leadership teams.

Over my time in education, I have learnt to exercise a high challenge, high support philosophy and my key focus is always to improve standards for the students in my care.

At the heart of my practice is a deeply embedded belief that every child is entitled to high quality education and I intend to make this a reality at Goole Academy.

I am extremely proud to be associated with the Academy and look forward to working with all members of its community.

Mr Julian Harrison, Principal

**Results Update August 2019**

Students and staff of Goole Academy are celebrating today after receiving vastly improved GCSE outcomes. All of our students achieved individual success and we are delighted with the results they have gained. It was an amazing experience seeing so many happy, excited students, staff and parents as they celebrated collecting their results on Thursday morning.

Goole Academy now has 62% of students gaining a grade 4 in Maths and English, and 43% achieving a grade 5 strong pass or above in both subjects. These results represents 11% and 14% increases respectively. A special mention for English with 78% of our students attaining grade 4+ and 65% attaining grade 5+.

Principal Julian Harrison said: ‘We are so proud of the students. Naturally, we are delighted with this significant improvement in results. They are without a doubt the best in the recent history of the school and are a reflection of the hard work put in by both students and staff.’

He went on to say ‘These results are an indication of the strong teaching and individual support we provide for all our students. They are also an indication of the levels of support from parents/carers and the Academy Advisory Body. We wish all of our students the very best of luck in their next steps in education, training or employment and look forward to hearing about their future achievements and successes.”

Executive Principal Gareth Mason said ‘I am delighted with the results and am particularly pleased with the improvements in English, Maths, Science, Geography and the vocational subjects. These contribute to a provisional overall progress score of +0.32 for the Academy.’

‘I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the new Principal, Mr Julian Harrison, who is leading an outstanding team of staff at the Academy and improving the standards achieved at Goole.’

There were many individual successes including: five students with grade 8 & 9 grades in at least five of the subjects they studied. These fantastic results have ensured the future destinations of these students are secured.

Chair of the AAB Shane Scarr said: ‘The results are excellent across all subjects and reflect the huge improvements at Goole Academy.

On behalf of the whole Academy Advisory Body I would like to convey how proud we are of all of the students receiving their results today. The path to today’s celebration has been one of hard work, dedication and courage from staff and students alike. I would like to congratulate the students on their successful results and wish them all the very best as they move on to the next stage of their journey.’

Delta Academies Trust

Delta Academies Trust, one of the largest multi academy trusts based in the North of England, is now placed second nationally in the Department for Education’s KS4 performance tables for Trusts with over 10 schools.

This follows the news in December that Delta’s primary academies were ranked first nationally in reading, writing and maths for Trusts with 20 or more schools in the equivalent primary performance tables.

Paul Tarn, Chief Executive Officer, said:

“I would like to congratulate students, parents and carers, staff, Principals, and local Academy Advisory Body members on these outstanding results.

The commitment of the Board of Delta Academies Trust to education in the North has had a dramatic impact for our communities.

I am delighted that children in our communities are now benefiting from what is recognised nationally as a high-performing Trust."

Julian Harrison, Principal of Goole Academy said:

“The children of Goole now have some of the best chances of an outstanding education in the whole of England.   We are delighted to be part of the Delta family of schools given the information that has been published in the DFE Multi-Academy Trust (MATs) performance tables.”
