The Maths Areté cohort from our local primary schools visited Goole Academy again recently; Year 6 enjoyed their day on Wednesday 6th March followed by the Year 5 visit on Tuesday 12th March.
Both groups learned about the mathematics behind ISBN numbers, which was very fitting since both visits were within five days of World Book Day. ISBN numbers also have a link to Roman Numerals, so the children also spent time converting numbers into Roman Numerals.
As well as learning lots of new things, they enjoyed a countdown competition, trying to be the closest team to the target number.
Once again, the children enjoyed a Nim Championship whilst waiting for their transport home. Two of the students left determined to beat Mrs Clayton at her favourite game next time they visit!
