Lego Robotics Team Reach National Finals!

A great day at the NCE Lego robotics final had by all.

50 schools got to the final and there could only be 1 winner and unfortunately it was not us, but this does not detract from the enthusiasm the students have demonstrated towards STEM and their future career aspirations.

Over 500 schools took part in the competition and Goole Academy won the "Brain-bot" task (researching and uploading STEM information) this achieved over 1.5 million points. Clear winners by over 400,000 points and well deserved!!

The students have been an excellent showcase of what Goole Academy can and want to be a part of and of course fully engage with. We are so proud of what not only the students have achieved but also Mr Poulton who also won an award which was presented by Derek Walter, Chief Executive of Worldsport Management, based at Silverstone.

In recognition for Mr Poulton's 'Passion and dedication' he has demonstrated in the past few years in the STEM challenge, he has won £1000 to spend on STEM products for the school.

The award (The Helsington Foundation Certificate of Commendation) will be presented to him at a dinner held at Cambridge University's Trinity College on the evening of Sunday 7th July and will be followed by a tour of the engineering department the next day.

Well done all!
